Holger and his wife Gabriele are producing some very Gallic wines out of southern Germany. Which makes sense with their proximity to the border with Alsace. In fact they describe many of their wines as German with a French soul.  The vineyards are given lavish, organic care and have healthy cover crops around the old growth, massale selection vines smuggled back from Burgundy and Alsace. Grauburgunder (commonly known as Pinot Gris) joins forces with Müller-Thurgau and Gewürztraminer in this playful blend meant to feel both German and French in style. Aromas of white flowers and stone fruit introduce lovely energy on the palate bolstering ripe pineapple, green herbs, Fuji apple, and a saline mineral-driven finish.
