Region: Alsace, France Grape(s): Pinot Blanc, Muscat, Chasselas, Riesling Winemaker: Felix Meyer Drinks Best: Now - 1 year
The wines of Alsace are unique owing to the influence of both French and German winemaking techniques. Working in the shadow of the Vosges Mountains, the Meyers have been making outstanding wine since the 1800s. Since Felix took over in 1992, he has modernized and expanded the operation while maintaining an excellence that rightly marks him as a rock-star winemaker in Alsace. Edelzwicker is an Alsatian term for a field blend of their ‘noble’ grapes. Felix’s is a medium bodied white with intense floral aromatics, impressive minerality, and bright fruit notes of fleshy melon and white peach. To say this is a food-friendly wine is an understatement!
