Region: Castile and Leon, Spain Grape(s): Verdejo Drinks Best: Now
This half-century old winery is today run by the brother and sister team of Myriam & Manuel Vázquez, who named their wine after their two grandmothers, both named Maria. Verdejo is literally the only wine they make, and the Vazquez family along with winemaker Antonio Muñoz hand-harvest the grapes, and then intervene as little as possible in the winery. Their collective goal is to provide a true expression of their native terroir and their teamwork in every bottle. Bright and fresh citrus and grapefruit accented with grassy notes will may make this attractive alternative to Sauvignon Blanc your new house white.
Pairings: Fried Catfish tacos with lime crema and tomatillo salsa
