The J. Denuzière estate actually began as Vins Paret, a wine distribution business founded by Joanny Paret in 1876. Over time, it became one of the largest wine distributors in the Condrieu. In 2010 the business was rebranded and began producing high end Northern Rhône wines under the estate name J. Denuziere – the first vintage released was 2014. This is their Syrah from Saint-Joseph, the second largest appellation in the Northern Rhône. Handpicked and partially destemmed, it is then fermented in stainless steel and open wooden vats. Traditional methods are used like bare feet cap-punching in order to obtain a more delicate extraction. Finally, the wine is aged for 12 months in tank and 1-3 years in old oak barrels. Rich aromas of ripe blueberry and plum are balanced by hints of cocoa and toasted spices. The palate is silky with beautifully integrated oak influence balanced by crisp cassis, black cherry, and an iron and granite minerality. Soft, easing tannins make this an approachable style that will also mature for years to come.

Pairings: Rich red wine-based sauces with duck or game meats
