Enfield is the middle name of owner and winemaker John Lockwood, who is taking a unique approach to California wine. Not as lean as European style but certainly not big New World bullies, his wines are unique in their style. A former luthier (guitar-maker) turned winemaker; John started Enfield as a side project while working at Failla under Ehren Jordan. His Cabernet is sourced from Sonoma County’s Fort Ross-Seaview AVA, more known for its Pinot Noir. The result is a more elegant, nuanced Cabernet-heavy blend that blends red with black fruit by way of currant and black cherry, with hints of mint, and a graphite minerality.
