Region: Muscadet Sèvre et Maine, Loire Valley, France Grape(s): 70% Melon de Bourgogne, 30% Folle Blanche Winemaker: Jeremie & Claire Batard-Langelier Drinks Best: Now - 2 Years
Husband and wife team Jeremie and Claire Batard-Langelier are dedicated to producing wines that express Muscadet’s terroir while also introducing a new perspective of this classic region. The estate is nearly 60 acres, planted mostly with Melon de Bourgogne and a small portion of Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Chemical fertilizers were abandoned in the vineyard in 1995, and in 2014 they began the conversion to full on organic farming. This sparkling wine is zippy with aromas of white flowers and Granny Smith apples, underipe peaches and bright citrus on the palate, frothy bubbles, and fresh acidity.
