Chateau Teyssier is the home estate of famed English wine producer Jonathan Malthus. Sitting on the right bank of the Gironde River where Merlot dominates, the chateau has become known for producing great wines that over-deliver for the price from a region where prices can quickly soar. It opens with beautiful aromas of rose petal followed quickly by notes of licorice and herbs. The palate has lush black fruit along with an ample supply of the damp earth that defines Bordeaux. The finish is clean and fleshy with soft tannin - a clear result of the decision to blend with Cabernet Franc instead of the more tannic Cabernet Sauvignon.
