At the bottom of a long, precarious, winding road in what could well be Italy’s smallest DOC, brothers Andrea and Luca Elegir are farming just over thirteen acres of very steep vineyards, with most of their vines dating back to nearly 100 years-old. The family has been working these vineyards for several generations, the winery now runs on solar power and the wines are all certified organic. ‘Pierino ‘24’ is named after grandfather Pierino who was born in 1924, the third generation to cultivate the Borgo Moncalvo vines. Delicate and fragrant, this Dolcetto offers fruity notes of cherry and raspberry along with a soft, tannic finish.

Pairings:
Mushroom ravioli in a savory veal stock reduction
