Hugo Mendes, a seasoned winemaker with over a decade of experience, embarked on a journey to redefine Portuguese winemaking, venturing out on his own and fostering a vibrant and innovative wine community. In 2016 Hugo launched a crowd funding campaign to launch his own line of wines. Embracing tradition while pushing boundaries, Hugo exclusively utilizes indigenous grapes. His “Branco” is a blend of indigenous Portuguese whites. To add to it’s complexity, 30% of the blend ages for 8 months in used oak barrels. This imparts a leesy and creamy quality that is balanced by chalky minerality and a textured finish.
