In a region of the wine making world where following the rules and being conservative is nearly a requirement of owning land, Jean-Paul Brun is a rebel. He’s spent his career insisting that Beaujolais can, and should, make great wine. In 2007, nearly all of his wines were rejected from the Beaujolais AOP for being “too atypical.” Luckily for us, Jean Paul persisted and kept on making exceptional wine. ‘Le Ronsay’ is a beautiful expression of a light and easy drinking Beaujolais. It has notes of bright red fruit and is fresh and lively on the palate. The ‘Le Ronsay’ is a softer counterpart to Brun’s l’Ancien cuvee, but both deserve a place on your dinner table.
