Guy Breton took over his family’s 10-acre estate in 1986. Unhappy with the commercialization and negative reputation of the region, Guy and three other local vignerons known as the ‘Gang of Four’ decided to return to old winemaking practices – never using synthetic herbicides or pesticides, hand harvesting, native yeast fermentations, little to no doses of sulfur dioxide, and no filtration. Compared to his flagship Morgon, this Chiroubles is delicate and light on its feet. Lots of red berry fruit is anchored by the classic earthiness and tannins of the region. A silky texture and beautiful floral aromas round out this fierce but juicy Gamay.
