Anne-Sophie Dubois, born and raised in Champagne, developed an early interest in wine and spent her formative years in Burgundy mastering the craft of winemaking. She fell in love with Gamay and eventually settled in Beaujolais, a region more accessible for a young vigneron without substantial wealth. Her domaine is in the heart of Fleurie, where she organically farms 20 acres of vines, some over 60 years old. ‘L’Alchemiste’ spends 15 months aging in a combination of cement tanks and neutral oak barrels. Aromas of blackberry and orange pith lead to a lively, medium-bodied palate of plum and blueberry fruit, with fine-grained tannins and a hint of spice on the finish.
