This Lambrusco is made from the ancient grape Fogarina that was abandoned nearly 60 years ago. Winemaker Amilcare Alberici revitalized this nearly extinct varietal when he vinified it in 2002. ‘La Fogarina’ is made with the ancestral method – the wine rests in tank for several months and then goes through a slow, natural fermentation in bottle. Although made with an ancient grape and in an ancient method, this is a fresh take on Lambrusco. An earthy, rustic nose leads to a bone-dry palate with tart blue fruit, herbs, and dried florals. Bright, balanced acidity and frothy bubbles make this a must have for Lambrusco lovers.
