Region: Sancerre, Loire Valley, France Grape(s): Sauvignon Blanc Winemaker: Julie Noël Drinks Best: Now - 5 Years
Patrick Noël is descended from more than three centuries of winemakers, all from the village of Chavignol. He founded his eponymous domaine in 1988 and has since passed the torch to his daughter, Julie, who is making some of the most structured, soulful wines in Sancerre. Made from estate vineyards located primarily in the villages of Chavignol and Sancerre with a small amount from Saint-Satur. This wine is unoaked and aged for 9 months on the lees with a minimum on one year in bottle prior to release. This is a classic expression of Sauvignon Blanc from the region with notes of apple, quince, fresh cut grass, lemon, and lime with bright acidity and chalky minerality.
